ABOUT

Chef Jenny Lee is the owner of Perilla Kitchen and Kiuda. Perilla Kitchen encompasses the teaching aspect of her business. Kiuda [Kee-oo-dah] is her pop-up restaurant, which are ticketed dinners at a venue.
Kiuda 키우다 means nourish in Korean. The word also means taking care of kids, pets or plants. Jenny cooked for James Beard award-winning chefs Justin Aprahamian of Sanford in Milwaukee, as well as Tom Colicchio and Jean-Georges Vongerichten in New York City. Jenny teaches Korean cooking classes in the greater Milwaukee area. While Jenny can cook anything, she teaches Korean cooking because she is proud of her heritage.

Kiuda Korean American won Best Flavor by the judges' vote at Battle of the Chefs Milwaukee 2022! Jenny made Korean Gochujang pork belly with cabbage slaw dressed with soy sauce, rice vinegar and sesame oil plus rice.

What is Perilla?

Perilla is an herb commonly used in Korean cuisine. Jenny's parents grew the herb in a pot on the back stoop in western Wisconsin. She grows the plant in her own garden. It reminds her of who she is and where she grew up.
