Korean Cooking Demos at the Milwaukee Public Market
I'm doing Korean cooking demos in downtown Milwaukee! While she has the muscle memory to cook fine dining food, Korean food is her comfort zone. In this demonstration, you'll learn how to make hearty Korean dishes like LA Galbi and jap chae noodles. You'll find out how to make an everyday Korean marinade. Find out how LA Galbi got its name from the city of Los Angeles. Jap chae is a wonderful sweet potato noodle dish that can be made vegetarian with mushrooms, carrots and spinach. Koreans prize fruit as a dessert. It is a sign of love when your mother peels the apple or pear by hand with a knife. Tonight, you'll get to sample:
Korean Desserts Link here: https://milwaukeepublicmarket.org/classes/korean-desserts-demonstration Chef Jenny Lee grew up eating fruit for dessert. Her mother would lovingly peel apples with a knife by hand. The peel would always end up as a long spiral on the plate below her mother's hands. She loved eating Korean desserts at restaurants. In this demonstration class, learn how to make special Korean desserts like patbingsu and red bean mochi. During this hot summer, refresh yourself with patbingsu, a Korean shaved ice dessert loaded with fruit and sweet red bean paste. Learn how to make mochi with the help of a microwave. Lastly, enjoy seasonal Korean fruit and learn about the significance of fruit in Korean culture.

In June, July and August, I will teach Korean cooking classes for the Franklin Community Education & Recreation Department at Forest Park Middle School. Registration is open April 25th! We will cook with vegetables from the farmers' market. We'll make Korean marinated chicken with vegetables we will put over rice. We'll make a sauce. I can bring the ingredients to you. I can teach students how to make a typical Korean weeknight meal. We could make bibimbap, or Korean rice bowl.
